NEW INC is the New Museum's incubator for people working at the intersection of art, design, and technology.
Our member cohort represents an interdisciplinary mix of artists, designers, technologists, and futurists chosen via an annual open call for their experience, vision, and ambition. People at NEW INC are working on everything from new businesses, to ambitious art installations, to provocative experiments in science and urban design.
Our annual membership program, which kicks-off each year in September, is designed to help creative practitioners and organizations leverage the tools of entrepreneurship to realize their ideas, become sustainable, and maximize potential for impact and scale.
We do an open call for members each year, and for mentors during the Summer.
Each year, as part of NEW INC’s Mentorship program, we recruit creative and business leaders from the fields of art, technology, and design as mentors to support our members and their projects on a volunteer basis.
Our Open Call for Year 12 (September 2025 - August 2026) Mentors is currently live. Please complete this form, which takes about 20 - 45 minutes to complete, to apply to be a NEW INC mentor for this year.
Mentor benefits
- Dedicated Mentors receive a $500 and Office Hour Mentors receive $300 for their participation.
- In addition, Mentors receive a one-year New Ideas Fellow Membership ($400 Value) to the New Museum, first-dibs on NEW INC programs, and the opportunity to engage with the NEW INC community throughout the year. You can read more about the New Ideas Fellow Membership here.
Mentorship details:
- ️DEDICATED MENTORS: Geared toward Mentors who would like to be paired with a NEW INC member and work one-to-one with them over the course of the cohort year. Dedicated Mentors commit to meeting regularly (monthly) with their mentees, and are interested in forging a strong working relationship to identify strategic goals and opportunities to sustain their projects.
- ️OFFICE HOURS MENTORS: NEW INC hosts two seasons of Office Hour appointments (Fall and Spring). These are one-time meetings or studio visits. Office Hours Mentors meet with up to 6 NEW INC members for 40 minutes each to help them workshop a particular question or challenge within the mentor’s area of expertise. Office Hour Mentors can schedule their own appointments, reach out to members that are of interest to them, and also solicit information in advance of their meetings.

- Have a look at current mentors to get a feel for the community.
- We recommend compiling all the necessary materials in advance of starting the application. You'll be asked to upload a headshot and a 150-word bio.
- Save your work regularly while filling out the application form and we recommend saving a copy of your application for your records.
